EHS Terry Fox Run: Friday, October 2

This year is the 40th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope and Eric Harvie School is proud to be continuing the legacy of one of our greatest heroes. Please join us and support this wonderful cause by donating to: http://www.terryfox.ca/EricHarvieSchool. Together, we can all make a difference! #terryfoxschoolruns @terryfoxfoundation

Eric Harvie School raised over 4000.00 last year and even more in previous years.  Let’s reach for that again this year!

Next Wednesday: Orange Shirt Day!

Next week on Wednesday September 30th we will be taking part in Orange Shirt Day to honour the healing journey of survivors and families of residential schools. Eric Harvie will be participating in Orange Shirt Day activities.

Send Books!
If possible, please send 1-2 books to school with your child. We would like every student to have a few books in their bin to read throughout the day.

Our Day:

Today we had Ms. Danchuk and Ms. Bates visit Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes and talk about healthy ways to cope when feeling anxious or frustrated. Ask your child about the new strategies they learned.

In Phys Ed, students had the opportunity to practice running the Terry Fox Run in preparation for the real run on October 2nd.

Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes began to talk about our 'Read to Self' time and what this looks like and sounds like. Books will be distributed on Friday, and we will practice reading to ourselves!

Mrs. Campbell's class practiced their first round of 'Read to Self' and did very well! Ask your child what book they are reading! As well, Mrs. Campbell's class spent the afternoon outside sketching beautiful Autumn trees.

In math today, Mr. Kai's class practiced drawing number lines on the sidewalk, while Ms. Wauthier's class used ten-frames to calculate the value of our names. Math seemed to be the favourite part of many students day today!

Have a great evening and see you tomorrow for a half day!
