"When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam, may luck be yours on Halloween!"  Reminders:  - Tomorrow is a PD day! - The library is now open to sign out books. If you have questions about how to choose books online, please email your child's teacher! Our Day: Our day was full of Halloween fun! It was so nice to see everyone in their costumes.  Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes began their day with some spooky Halloween writing. Each student was given a place and a character to write about. They had to think about a story to write that included these items, as well as their own halloween character. Ask your child about the story they wrote! We began our work on small crawling and flying insects, and talked a lot about spiders today! We even looked at some pictures of real spiders and saw how big they can get. We spent some of our afternoon drawing detailed spider webs, and filling them in with different patterns and colours. Face masks are still to be worn and we are asking children not to wear costume masks that cover the whole face. Please keep costume accessories at home so they are not lost. Please do not bring treats for your children to share or give out.  We can't wait to see all of the costumes! OUR DAY: We started our day with Roots of Empathy and students had a chance to ask their classroom baby questions such as: - Can your baby walk yet? - Can your baby talk yet? - Can your baby roll over yet? We learned about different ways that babies communicate with us before they learn to speak. Ask your child what they learned about their classroom baby! We had a chance to read to ourselves and have been learning new strategies for this. Students have been learning to first read the pictures, then look at the words they know, then retell the story

"When snow falls, nature listens."     -  Antoinette van Kleef Our Day: Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes started the day by looking closely at our artifacts from the coulee walk. Each student examined their artifact and thought deeply about the senses that the artifact would experience in the Coulee.  Mrs. Campbell's class played a math game today which included rolling a dice and drawing a unique jack-o-lantern. Ask your child how to play! Our classes had lots of fun playing in the fluffy snow during our body breaks! One of the grade 3/4 pods put together a virtual Peace Assembly for the school to watch. We watched the different ways that they practiced being peaceful at school, in the coulee, and in our neighbourhood. We had so much fun seeing our fellow school mates on the screen! We finished the day with gratitude time, sharing the things we are most grateful for this week. Here are some things we heard: - "I'm grateful that we went on a coulee walk yes

"When snow falls, nature listens"  -Antoinette Van Kleef Our Day:  Our morning began with a look at perspective writing. We picked an item in the classroom and tried to imagine what the item would see, smell, hear, and feel in its location. This was preparation for the activity we would do in the coulee later in the day.  Also, Ms. Wauthier's class continued work on their patterned pumpkins while Mr. Kai's class had a special story time with Mr. Strand. After lunch, it was off to the coulee. We ventured out to our favourite spot with Saa Ko Ko To and had a great chat about the bison and the role it plays. Then, we walked further into the coulee and found an item that we practiced out perspective viewing on.  It was a very fun day!
