Thursday October 15th

"Change the world by being yourself!"

Reminders:

  • Google Classroom: If you have not yet done so, please login to your child’s Google Classroom. We would like all invites to be accepted by this Friday October 16th. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have trouble logging in.
  • Please provide your child with a pair of INDOOR SHOES for school. It is starting to get messy outside now with all of the rain/snow.
  • We are continuing to have PE outside as well as other learning opportunities and body breaks. Please continue to ensure your child has warm clothing to be outside in.
  • Student Insight Questionnaire – If you have not yet submitted a Student Insight Questionnaire for your child, the last day to do so will be this Friday October 16th.

Our Day:

Today we continued working on our 'Kid Writing'. Students have become skilled at stretching words out and writing the sounds and letters that they hear. Ask your child who the friend of the day was in their class!

Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes have continued their reading of Pippi Longstocking! Today, we did a short character study on Pippi herself. Students used a variety of words to describe Pippi's unique character. Ask your child how they described Pippi! To end the day, our classes participated in a gallery walk, looking at the different ways in which students in the class pictured Pippi. We all have a different idea of what Pippi looks like and it was so much fun seeing the differences in our drawings.

We all continued practicing reading to ourselves. Students are learning to read independently by using the pictures, and sounding out words as they read alone. Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes almost beat their reading record time!

In math today, Ms. Campbell's class worked on translating patterns! Students had the chance to showcase what they know about patterns and pattern families.

Ms. Campbell's class also worked on their drawing skills and spent some time drawing spooky haunted houses!

See you tomorrow for a half day!
