If you wish to order school photos, please return the order form to the school by October 9th. You can also submit orders online! If you would like your child to retake their school photos, retakes are scheduled for October 22nd!


Our Day:


What a wonderful end to the week it was!

This morning, after completing our Friendship Journal of the day, we focused on rhyming pairs. We've been slowly learning the song Down By The Bay, so today we created our own rhyming pairs to add to the end of each verse. Some of the new lines that we came up with are "Have you ever seen a bee drinking some tea" and " Have you ever seen a dog sitting on a log". 

Ask your child which line they came up with! And maybe they'll sing you some of the song too😉


After lunch, we worked on our special Thanksgiving turkey art projects. We wrote things that we're grateful for on the tail feathers of our turkeys. The kids had a blast making them!

  Peace Group Celebrates Pink Shirt Day Our Peace Group Friends came to school in lots of PINK today.  Thank you to all of our families for helping us recognize this great cause.  If you would like to know the origins of this important day, please watch the video below: Mrs. Campbell's class showing that they stand up to bullying! Our morning went by very quickly.  Each group doing their literacy and math.  In Mr. Kai's and Mrs. Bowles' groups they continue to work on their final drafts of their personal choice of Walking Stories.  We are working on the revising and polishing components of the writing process. In math we are all working on representing numbers to 20 (required for grade one) and to 100.  We are learning this concept through estimating, games and Math Talk activities.  You can play the game at home with smaller objects.   Long piece of spaghetti  can be used as a ten rod and macaroni pieces can be used as one units. ...

 Happy Thursday Peace Group Learners and Families This is my first official blog after returning to Eric Harvie School full-time.   My apologies for missing the blog yesterday. Transitions can be a challenge. Today was a packed day full of learning for all of the Peace Group.  All of the students continue to work on developing their writing. We are all working on "Walking Stories" these are stories that are about themselves. We have focused on our memories.  A "Walking Story's" main character is the student. It is all about a person, place or thing that your child knows a lot about.  We have been using a variety of planning techniques. The students are also learning how to revise their writing by adding "Triple Scoop" words, interesting details and looking at using our "No Excuse" word lists for editing.
