Google Classroom

*** We have set up a Google Classroom for grade 1/2 learners. Work has been posted in order to assist children who are missing school for an extended period of time due to illness or quarantine. The work posted is NOT daily homework. It can be accessed through your child's gmail account and password. If you have any further questions please contact your child's teacher. ***


Our Day:

We began our day today by reading The Very Itchy Bear by Nick Bland and exploring the rhyming pairs we found in the text. After finding a rhyming pair, we looked to see if both words shared a spelling pattern and, if they did, we isolated the combination of letters that made the rhyming sound. After that, we did an exercise where we tried to come up with as many rhymes for the word "cat" as possible. 

We continued our read-to-self and building our quiet reading stamina. We're working towards consistently reading for more than ten minutes. 

In Math, we began work on patterns and started out class with the Chicken Dance and a quick discussion about the repeating patterns within the dance. Then we made our own patterns and tested them out with our table partners.

REMINDERS Families Helping Families As is our tradition at Eric Harvie School, again this year we are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support a family in need at Christmas.  This year, we will be supporting 10 families at Colonel Fred J. Scott School who may need a little extra help to make Christmas brighter.  While in past years we asked for specific gift donations for individual family members, due to the pandemic, this year will look different.      This year we are asking for monetary donations.  These donations will purchase a variety of gift cards (eg.
