Families Helping Families
As is our tradition at Eric Harvie School, again this year we are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support a family in need at Christmas. This year, we will be supporting 10 families at Colonel Fred J. Scott School who may need a little extra help to make Christmas brighter. While in past years we asked for specific gift donations for individual family members, due to the pandemic, this year will look different.
This year we are asking for monetary donations. These donations will purchase a variety of gift cards (eg. Walmart, Superstore, Safeway) and small stocking stuffers gifted to each member of the 10 families in a stocking. Parent Council has generously offered their support by collecting the money via direct deposit and helping purchase the gifts.
Donations can be made via at

and are welcomed on or before

Some highlights from our day:
- we listened to a story called, The Sharing Circle and then retold the story in our table groups. We followed up with sequencing the story in our visual journals by drawing pictures and using the time marker words, first, then, next and last
- in Science we discussed the 4 seasons and learned a little bit about why we have different seasons. We drew pictures of our favourite season showing what we like to do best.
- we completed our prairie plastiscine art
- we cracked a secret code in math by using a number line to help us with our adding
- we continued to practice our literacy skills through completing friendship journals, guided reading and word work
- in science we discussed what we know about ants, what we want to find out and some facts that we learned about ants. We also completed a guided drawing of an ant
- in math we used 10 frames as a tool to help with addition. See if you can figure out the math number sentence to go with the picture below
- we played basketball in gym today
- Mr. Kai's class went to music today and Ms. Wauthier's went yesterday. Check out the music blog here:
