Peace Group

 OUR DAY: - We began our day with writing and focused on making our writing CLEAR through punctuation, GUM IT, and finger spacing. Students were then able to write about anything from their writing ideas page! Ask what your child wrote about! - We had Roots of Empathy today and met with our babies, hearing all about the new learnings that the babies have had.  - While Ms. Wauthier's class went to music, Mr. Kai and Mrs. Campbell's classes started a project about magnetism, creating a magnetic toy for the kindergarteners! Ask your child what they will be building! - In math, Students learned all about measuring time, and had a chance to answer riddles about the month of January!

 Our day: Literacy - for daily writing we continued on with the next step in our writing process. We verbally shared our writing ideas with a table partner and began to write our draft copy of our narratives. Math - Mrs. Campbell's class talked about capacity today and experimented with pouring liquids into different containers to compare the capacity and volume of different sized pitchers, glasses and bowls. We used the the words greater than and less than to explain the comparisons. Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier/Bowles class explored mass and used balances to compare objects. Science - we started a design challenge today. We are creating magnetic toys for the kindergarten students to play with. Students worked on their planning sheet and listed materials they would need to build. If students have materials they want to bring from home to use in their construction they are welcome to do so. PE - we are playing volleyball!
