 Reminder:  We would like to go for a coulee walk on Monday. Please remember to bring a pocketable snack and a water bottle.  Also, Monday is the last day. No school Tuesday. Or Wednesday. Or Thursday. Or Friday. Or the next Monday. Or... Our Day:  Today was Sports Day! We began our day with a clean up of our bins and classroom. Then we watched the EHS Talent Show. So many talented people in our school!  Then, we went out for Sports Day. The weather was beautiful! There were lots of fun games to play! Ask your child what their favourite game was!  We ended our day with a wonderful Gratitude Circle and some dance music. It was a  wonderful day.  We know that some of you had your last day today. Thank you so much for a great year! Hope you have a restful and exciting summer! 

LAST THURSDAY - June 24, 2021

 Thursday has been quite busy for the being the last week of school.   We have been trying to wrap many projects up.  Coulee School will have one more day!  When asked the students have said that this has been their favourite part of their day. Coulee History are in the process of finishing and publishing their awesome, descriptive personal narratives to go along with their artistic masterpieces.  These will come home tomorrow. Coulee Biology completed their "How to Be" books and they were brought home to share with their families Coulee Environmentalists are finishing up their work and will also be bringing it home to share what they have learned about being stewards of the coulee. Friday will be our Sports Day!  The weather is to cooperate and we will be outside for an hour completing a number of stations.  Please dress for the weather. Sunscreen and hats will probably be needed. The students have chosen that they will come wearing something of their favourite team or wear

Reminders: Our sports day for our pod will be on Friday morning. Highlights from our Day: In coulee school we are finishing up our last round! Students are finishing up their 'How to be' books, protect the coulee posters and historical perspective pieces of writing We worked on a rough draft of a postcard to write to a friend in EHS school - each child is writing a positive message to wish a child in EHS school wishing them all the best to commemorate our 5th year anniversary We are working on a year end  memory book! Students are enjoying reflecting on the year and making goals for next year Mrs. Campbell's class read, Trudy's Healing Stone, written by Trudy Spiller. It teaches us that we can use a gift from the earth like a stone, to help us share our emotions. We can tell stone when we are feeling upset or angry. We choose 3 stones outside today, and painted them - 1 to to keep and 2 to give away. The stones are meant to be special, and to be held to help us let go o

  Reminders:  Tomorrow is Beach Day! Don't wear your bathing suit, but everything else goes!  Our Day:  We're in the final stretch! Today, we had a great Math brainteaser to start off the morning. In Phys. Ed, we're learning how to through frizz bees. Tomorrow we'll play some disc golf!  Mrs. Campbell's group made some fantastic Wild Robot art with soft pastels.  In coulee school, Mr. Kai's group learned about plastic pollution and human impact on green spaces.  Mrs. Bowles' group finished up their art! It looks beautiful!  Mrs. Campbell's group continued work on their 'How To Be an Animal' books!

Welcome to the second last Thursday of this school year! Our Coulee Walks continue to be a highlight of the week.  All three groups went to a new location: Mr. Kai's Class went to below the Sunning Buffalo and to the tipi circle with Mrs. Bowles.  We noticed a few things that the other groups didn't - the stream is really low and there are millions of ants in the coulee. Mrs. Bowles' Class went to the Duck Pond. We went on a wetland scavenger hunt and read the book, Looking Closely Around the Pond. We saw a baby duck. No muskrat this time. Mrs. Campbell's Class went to the lower coulee. We sat in our sit spots and investigated nature around us. Having the opportunity to see different locations and learn about each of them with our own set of eyes and and the perspective that we are focusing on during our in class learning.  Reminders: We are going on a coulee walk tomorrow morning. Please be prepared with a water bottle and an easy to eat snack on the go! Highlights from our Day: We focused our learning on another Anishinaabe teaching. This time we learned about the Eagle and how it represents love. We talked about how you show love through acts of kindness and respect and that it's important to treat yourself, others, animals and the land with love We explored the concepts of equality creating equality statement using animals with number values. The animals were based on a story called, Equal Shmequal, by Virginia Kroll. Listen together at home here. Students loved exploring the concept in this way and did an excellent job! Reminders:   If your child has any unreturned library books, please make sure they make their way back to school.  Also, if any other school home reading books are at home, please return these as well as they need to be inventoried for the summer.  We're going on a coulee walk on Thursday morning! Be prepared.  Tomorrow is another EHS SPIRIT DAY. The theme is: WaCkY WeDnEsDaY!!  Highlights from our day: In Coulee School: The biologist group took a closer look at a pond ecosystem and created one in their visual journals. They also learned about food webs and played a fun food chains and food webs. They played a fun food chain rock/paper/scissor game where they moved up and down the food chain depending on if they won or lost the rock/paper/scissor challenge.  The environmentalist group talked about creating and protecting green spaces. They said they didn't want to hurt trees or nature, or pollute the environment and that hey wanted to protect animal homes because we have enough
