EHS Terry Fox Run: Friday, October 2

Wear you Eric Harvie School colours (blue & orange) on Friday, October 2.  This year is the 40th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope and Eric Harvie School is proud to be continuing the legacy of one of our greatest heroes. Please join us and support this wonderful cause by donating to: http://www.terryfox.ca/EricHarvieSchool. Together, we can all make a difference! #terryfoxschoolruns @terryfoxfoundation

Bring you ‘toonies for Terry’ and drop them off at your school entrance door every morning during the week.  Eric Harvie School raised over 4000.00 last year and even more in previous years.  Let’s reach for that again this year!

If you have not done so already, please send in your Student Insight Questionnaire to your child's teacher.

Please have a conversation with your child about keeping hands to themselves at school. As we get more comfortable with our routines, we are finding that students are struggling with keeping their hands to themselves. We will continue to reinforce these healthy habits each day!

Our Day:
We spent much of our day today talking and learning about Orange Shirt Day! We read a story called Phylliss' Orange Shirt which taught us about why we honour orange shirt day each year on September 30th. We also learned about land acknowledgements and why we practice them. Students had a lot of questions about Orange Shirt day and the significance about it. To honour Orange Shirt day, each student was given an orange ribbon to write their name on it, as well as a word that describes them. Students began to understand what 'Every Child Matters'.

We worked on our Friendship Journals again today, and students are being challenged to start filling in the blanks for our sentences. We are also working on writing on the lines and finger spacing. Ask your child who they learned about today!

In Phys Ed. today, students practiced one final Terry Fox run before the real run on Friday. They worked hard to keep their distance while running. Many students ran 4 or more laps!

Mrs. Campbell's class continued their work on making patterns in Math using manipulatives and documenting their findings in their visual journals.

Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes practiced our 'read to self' time and found great success! Students are working on their reading stamina.

 See you tomorrow!
