Families Helping Families

As is our tradition at Eric Harvie School, again this year we are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support a family in need at Christmas.  This year, we will be supporting 10 families at Colonel Fred J. Scott School who may need a little extra help to make Christmas brighter.  While in past years we asked for specific gift donations for individual family members, due to the pandemic, this year will look different.

This year we are asking for monetary donations.  These donations will purchase a variety of gift cards (eg. Walmart, Superstore, Safeway) and small stocking stuffers gifted to each member of the 10 families in a stocking.  Parent Council has generously offered their support by collecting the money via direct deposit and helping purchase the gifts.

Donations can be made via at

 ehsestreasurer@gmail.com   (No password required.)

and are welcomed on or before

December Spirit Days

Spirit Days are coming to Eric Harvie for December! Each Thursday in December there will be a new theme for everyone!

December 3rd – Crazy sweater day!

December 10th -  Crazy Hat day!

December 17th – Pajama day!

We are so excited to see what you come up with! Let’s Light Up our Hearts this December!

OUR DAY

Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's class began their day with a focus on ants! We read a book all about ants and then we watched some close-up nature videos that gave us a glimpse into their unique lifecycles. To finish up our investigation into ants, we wrapped up our ant art, labeled all the parts of our ants, and drew some of their typical environment. Which creepy crawlies are we going to look at next? Stay tuned to find out!

In Mrs. Campbell's class, they continued reading Charlotte's Web. Students then chose a word that they thought described Wilbur and drew it in a web. They will expand on using this words in their writing next week!

After our Science lesson, Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's class launched straight into Math with a game that explored number bonds. What are number bonds, you ask? Ask your child what they know about number bonds!

While we went out for body break, Mrs. Campbell's class finished up their drawings of their favourite season and wrote a sentence about what activities they like to participate in during that season. Ask your child what their favourite season is and why!

Then they learned more facts about the bison and discussed how they helped support the survival of the Indigenous people living in the prairies in the past. Fun!

Once we returned from our body break, we had settled in with a good book for some Read to Self and Guided Reading Groups. It was quite a nice way to end the day. After a quick clean-up of the classroom, we dimmed the lights for Gratitude Circle. Some of the things we said we were grateful for this week were;

"I'm grateful for my friends, family, and teachers"
"I'm grateful that it's my Mum's birthday soon"
"I'm grateful that I'm getting a new kitty this weekend"
"I'm grateful that they're working on a vaccine"

Have a wonderful weekend!
