 Families Helping Families

As is our tradition at Eric Harvie School, again this year we are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support a family in need at Christmas.  This year, we will be supporting 10 families at Colonel Fred J. Scott School who may need a little extra help to make Christmas brighter.  While in past years we asked for specific gift donations for individual family members, due to the pandemic, this year will look different.

This year we are asking for monetary donations.  These donations will purchase a variety of gift cards (eg. Walmart, Superstore, Safeway) and small stocking stuffers gifted to each member of the 10 families in a stocking.  Parent Council has generously offered their support by collecting the money via direct deposit and helping purchase the gifts.

Donations can be made via at

and are welcomed on or before

Scholastic Virtual Book Fair: November 16th to November 27th.

The Virtual Book Fair is a fantastic way to continue to give our students access to the books they want to read. We’re excited that you will be able to shop together, selecting the books that inspire your readers, from the comfort of home. All purchases benefit our school and earn Rewards that can be redeemed for books and Education Resources for our school’s classrooms and library.

Our Day:

Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes began their day with friendship journals and learned all about 2 friends in the class. We have been paying close attention to our use of capital letters. Ask your child when they should be using capital letters in their writing! Our classes also worked on read to self and some have learned new decoding strategies in their guided reading groups.

Our classes looked at the map of Canada today and learned about the prairie provinces. Ask your child which 3 provinces make up the prairie provinces!

In math we began exploring fact families and how addition and subtraction are related. Mr. Kai's class was taught by our very own student teacher, Ms. Pham! Students learned that 3 numbers make up a fact family. Ask your child to show you a fact family for the number 10!

Ms. Campbell's class worked on writing and guided reading and have been learning new decoding strategies to help learn to read!

Ms. Campbell's class also worked with tangrams to make animals. Students explored the different ways they can put shapes together to make a larger image!
