 Reminders:

 Families Helping Families

As is our tradition at Eric Harvie School, again this year we are calling on your kindness and generosity to help support a family in need at Christmas.  This year, we will be supporting 10 families at Colonel Fred J. Scott School who may need a little extra help to make Christmas brighter.  While in past years we asked for specific gift donations for individual family members, due to the pandemic, this year will look different.

This year we are asking for monetary donations.  These donations will purchase a variety of gift cards (eg. Walmart, Superstore, Safeway) and small stocking stuffers gifted to each member of the 10 families in a stocking.  Parent Council has generously offered their support by collecting the money via direct deposit and helping purchase the gifts.

Donations can be made via at

and are welcomed on or before

Scholastic Virtual Book Fair: November 16th to November 27th.

The Virtual Book Fair is a fantastic way to continue to give our students access to the books they want to read. We’re excited that you will be able to shop together, selecting the books that inspire your readers, from the comfort of home. All purchases benefit our school and earn Rewards that can be redeemed for books and Education Resources for our school’s classrooms and library.

Our Day:

Ms. Campbell's class continued learning about the prairies. Specifically, they began looking at the buffalo. Ask your child what they learned about the buffalo today!

Ms. Campbell's class also worked on story sequences! Looking again at the book 'The Sharing Circle'', students had a chance to practice breaking down a story into first, then, next, and last sequences.

In math, Ms. Campbell's class began sorting shapes based on one attribute. Ask your child the different ways they can sort shapes!

Mr. Kai and Ms. Wauthier's classes began their day with Roots of Empathy and talked about how both adults and kids cry for various reasons and talked about how we can help others who are crying or are feeling upset. Students then drew pictures of what it looks like to help someone.

We continued reading Charlotte's Web and have been introduced the first words written in her web! Ask your child what words were written in Charolotte's Web and what they think it means!

While Ms. Wauthier's class went to music and learned a Diwali song, Mr. Kai's class began learning about ants.

We ended our day with math and learned about addition in terms of 'part - part - whole'. Students began experimenting with a variety of numbers to create addition sentences.

Lastly, Ms. Wauthier's students have been practicing a song with Mrs. Coulson and are encouraged to practice at home! Ms. Wauthier's students can find the song here: https://ehsmusic.blogspot.com/2020/11/zwackcoxwauthier-and-low.html
