We think that daylight savings time effects are hitting the Peace Group.  We are finding it challenging to make it to the end of the day.  I am sure it will get better as the week progresses.

We continue to read and write nonfiction during literacy.  In Mr. Kai's and Mrs. Bowles' class, they have been using nonfiction books during our Read to Self time.  We are also using our nonfiction skills in writing. We are writing "How to" instructions.  Today we were writing about Getting Ready for School. We focused on using "Pro Tip Words."  This are important information tips that we can add to our "How To" writing that make it more clear for the reader.  These words are:  Always, Never, Try to, Remember to, Be careful to, and be careful not to.."

In gym, we are continuing our work on gymnastic skills:

Mrs. Bowles Bunch continued their learning on friendship from URStrong.  Today we focused on:

Students will be able to describe what is normal in a friendship through the 4 Friendship Facts:

  • No friendship/relationship is perfect. This helps students understand that conflict is a normal part of a friendship.
  • Every friendship is different. This helps students understand that no two friendships are the same; what works with one friend might not work with another friend.
  • Trust & respect are the two most important qualities of a friendship. Students learn the various ways trust and respect are shown in a friendship, the importance of honoring their differences, and how healthy friendships rely on this as the foundation.
  • Friendships change…and that’s okay! Students recognize that friendships are always changing because they are always changing.

In math, all groups are reviewing the concepts of addition and subtraction.

Tomorrow is another Spirit Day  - Please come dressed as an animal.  It is also St. Patrick's Day don't forget to wear green!
