Sorry for the late post...

 Reminders:

Wednesday is INSPIRATIONAL T-SHIRT DAY! If you have a shirt or sweater with a positive message - wear it tomorrow for spirit day! Our school EHS shirt is a great one too - it says, Building Peaceful Communities Together - right on it!!

Thursday is FUN SNACK day!

Friday is our last day of school before SPRING BREAK!


Highlights from our day:

  • In math Mrs. Campbell's class solved the Cookie Monster problem and put their problem solving skills to the test! They also read If You Were a Plus Sign and began to write addition story problems

  • In literacy today, students practiced some different word sorts. Mrs. Campbell's class will be bringing home word work this week. Watch for an email coming home tomorrow. 
  • Students also continued writing "How To" instructions, and added 'tips' to their writing
  • In health, through our 'Friendology' course work, students learned how to make new friends, how to introduce themselves to new people and how to start up a conversation. They learned some really great tips on how to make some new friends at school. 
  • Students are enjoying bouldering on the climbing wall, and using the gymnastics stations this week in PE

 Happy Thursday Peace Group Learners and Families This is my first official blog after returning to Eric Harvie School full-time.   My apologies for missing the blog yesterday. Transitions can be a challenge. Today was a packed day full of learning for all of the Peace Group.  All of the students continue to work on developing their writing. We are all working on "Walking Stories" these are stories that are about themselves. We have focused on our memories.  A "Walking Story's" main character is the student. It is all about a person, place or thing that your child knows a lot about.  We have been using a variety of planning techniques. The students are also learning how to revise their writing by adding "Triple Scoop" words, interesting details and looking at using our "No Excuse" word lists for editing. Happy Pink Shirt Day! February 24, 2021

  Peace Group Celebrates Pink Shirt Day Our Peace Group Friends came to school in lots of PINK today.  Thank you to all of our families for helping us recognize this great cause.  If you would like to know the origins of this important day, please watch the video below: Mrs. Campbell's class showing that they stand up to bullying! Our morning went by very quickly.  Each group doing their literacy and math.  In Mr. Kai's and Mrs. Bowles' groups they continue to work on their final drafts of their personal choice of Walking Stories.  We are working on the revising and polishing components of the writing process. In math we are all working on representing numbers to 20 (required for grade one) and to 100.  We are learning this concept through estimating, games and Math Talk activities.  You can play the game at home with smaller objects.   Long piece of spaghetti  can be used as a ten rod and macaroni pieces can be used as one units. ...
