Reminders: No school Monday! 

Our Day: 

We're moving along with our Coulee School! We began and ended our day with Coulee School lessons. 

In Mr. Kai's group, we read "Brother Eagle, Sister Sky" and continued work on our persuasive writing pieces. Ask your child what they're trying to persuade their readers to do! 


In Mrs. Bowles' group, we continued work on our "present day" coulee art pieces. They're really turning out nicely! Ask your child what they're using to make their art? 




 Note: If students who are working with Mrs. Bowles for Coulee School want to bring in any more artifacts for their art, they should have them ready for Tuesday. 

In Mrs. Campbell's group, we learned all about garter snakes! Ask your child what they learned!

 Happy Thursday Peace Group Learners and Families This is my first official blog after returning to Eric Harvie School full-time.   My apologies for missing the blog yesterday. Transitions can be a challenge. Today was a packed day full of learning for all of the Peace Group.  All of the students continue to work on developing their writing. We are all working on "Walking Stories" these are stories that are about themselves. We have focused on our memories.  A "Walking Story's" main character is the student. It is all about a person, place or thing that your child knows a lot about.  We have been using a variety of planning techniques. The students are also learning how to revise their writing by adding "Triple Scoop" words, interesting details and looking at using our "No Excuse" word lists for editing. Happy Pink Shirt Day! February 24, 2021

  Peace Group Celebrates Pink Shirt Day Our Peace Group Friends came to school in lots of PINK today.  Thank you to all of our families for helping us recognize this great cause.  If you would like to know the origins of this important day, please watch the video below: Mrs. Campbell's class showing that they stand up to bullying! Our morning went by very quickly.  Each group doing their literacy and math.  In Mr. Kai's and Mrs. Bowles' groups they continue to work on their final drafts of their personal choice of Walking Stories.  We are working on the revising and polishing components of the writing process. In math we are all working on representing numbers to 20 (required for grade one) and to 100.  We are learning this concept through estimating, games and Math Talk activities.  You can play the game at home with smaller objects.   Long piece of spaghetti  can be used as a ten rod and macaroni pieces can be used as one units. ...
