Thursday Welcomes Back Winter! Thursday, April 21, 2021

Well another blast of winter has hit our community.  The wind today was cold and some of the students weren't quite prepared for the weather. Please make sure that your child has the items needed in case we have these weather changes that we have seen over the past week.

Today was Earth Day!  This was a great time to discuss how we can treat our community and in turn the Earth for when we grow up!  We have connected some of learning today to the coulee.  Mr. Kai continued to work on their persuasive writing about taking care for the coulee and why green spaces are important for the city.  Mrs. Bowles/Ms. Lambert's group continued their work on their personal narratives about the coulee.  The writing that the students are doing is full of sensory imagery.  We will share their finished writing with the artwork that they will be creating tomorrow. Mrs. Campbell's group talked about the Great Horn Owl. They connected it with the book The Lorax and how we need to take care of living things.

We are continuing our work on subtraction in math.  What this looks like and how we can compare it to addition through fact families.

In gym, we played Builders and Bulldozers. It really got our heart rates up! Some of our little friend

We watched a few stories about Earth Day and wrote letters to Mother Earth.
